- Mr. Hoffman has gained his college financial planning expertise the hard way…by experiencing it first hand with his own five children! Before devoting time to his book, webinars, and software, Mr. Hoffman, a Certified Financial Planner, was President of The Capital Group of Virginia, Inc., a financial services organization since 1992 with offices in Charlottesville and Richmond, Virginia. The 2009 issue of Albemarle Family Magazine listed him as the #1 Favorite Financial Consultant. Since selling his practice he has passionately been writing and speaking to parents and college bound students, teaching important techniques for maximizing financial aid. Mr. Hoffman is a Graduate of the University of Virginia, class of 1975. He earned his MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship at Babson College, 1992. He has been a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner since 1985 and earned certification as a Certified College Planning Specialist (CCPS) in 2003.
